
Robert J. Cormier is a preacher, theologian, part-time missionary, and pilot. He lives in Newark, New Jersey, where he has been minister to the Spanish-speaking community of St. Rose of Lima for the last sixteen years.
Ordained in 1982 for the Archdiocese of Newark, Father Bob also has ten years of experience as minister to Portuguese and Brazilian communities, and one year before an Italian-speaking community.
In addition, he has over twenty-five years experience in both grade and high-schools and over twenty years as both a prison chaplain and a rehab counselor. For the last sixteen years he has been president of Project Live-a leading institution for the care of the mentally ill. He spent fifteen summers as priest to the Ma, a Mayan tribe, in Western Guatemala.
Father Bob grew up in Cranford, New Jersey, studied theology in Rome, and served as a deacon in Thailand. Besides aviation, his avocations include mountaineering, caving, scuba, and sailing. He is a bus driver, plays the conga in the St. Rose parish band, and he has visited over seventy countries on six continents.
