“I wish I were happier.” You recognize this thought,
do you not, dear reader? And even though it’s often hard
to say what’s missing, many of us have this feeling almost
all the time.
For some of us, it starts as soon as we get up. All around
us are reminders that life is not what we had hoped for. Sometimes
it starts with the people around us.
Perhaps we are at odds
with the people around us; perhaps it is serious; perhaps in
smaller ways they disappoint us—or make us know that
