We Were Made to Be a Family

In heaven, we are going to be together. There, just as happens here, especially when people love one another, the goodness of one is going to bring good into the lives of others. In heaven, the goodness of one is going to bring good into the lives of all others.

We can picture this in terms of light. In heaven, each of us will shine according to our holiness, our likeness to God. But the light from each of us will give more light to all. Thus, all of us are going to be richer for the holiness of each of us.

Therefore, it is clear, ours is a common destiny. Thus did God make us such that our lives are richer in every way when they are shared. Our faith is stronger when we share it. We are stronger when we are united. For this reason, we are called to be a Church, one Church, one family in faith. This is the doctrine we were made to be a family .

The proof of the fourth doctrine is ever present in our experience. Our lives mean nothing unless they are shared. This is a fact of life so fundamental that we sometimes overlook it. Nonetheless, it is a fundamental fact of life, and it tells about how we are supposed to live our faith and how we are going live in heaven.

Actually, the doctrine we were made to be a family pulls together and helps us to understand the other three basic beliefs.

It tells us a lot about what heaven will be, assuring us that we will be together with the people whom we love.

It shows us that love is smart in every way. After all, not only are all others people we will love as brothers and sisters, we are all going to be richer for everyone we help to grow. Besides this, it makes sense of self-sacrifice, something that otherwise makes no sense.

Finally, it helps us to see the wisdom of God's plan, something that is not always obvious person by person. After all, the whole purpose of God's plan is the creation of our family. Sometimes He asks some to have less so that in the end all will have more.
